How do you figure out how many stitches you need?
To figure out the number of stitches and rows you need in 1 inch, simply divide the listed gauge by four. For instance, a yarn with a gauge of 18 stitches and 24 rows per 4 inches is the same as 4.5 stitches per inch and 6 rows per inch.
How many stitches can you cast on?
You can place one every 10 stitches, or 20 stitches…. choose a number that is easy for you to remember and a multiple of the amount of stitches you need to cast on. Now you can start your project without worrying about being interrupted, if the phone rings, or if you want to take a snack break.
What length of knitting needle do I need?
