How do you measure a fringe of yarn?
It’s very difficult to estimate, but you could measure each of your strands, multiply it by the number of strands, then figure out how many “tassels” you have for every 10cm/4in of your edging and thereby figure out how many tassels you need in total and how many metres/yards of yarn that’s going to require.
How many strands of yarn do you need for a fringe?
Fringe can also be made of as many or as few strands of yarn as you like. Three strands are a nice minimal number for general use because they will create six strands hanging from each fringe group. You’ll also want to gauge this based on your yarn. Bulky yarns will create full tassels with just one or two strands.
