What is an industrial serger?
Industrial Sergers & Overlocks
A serger is designed to sew over the edge of the fabric to provide a finished look and to prevent fraying edges. Many overlock machines feature cutters that remove excess material while you are sewing. These overlock machines with cutters are also known as sergers.
Is it worth getting an overlocker?
Overlockers are worth buying if you intend to make lots of clothing, sew with stretch fabrics and make professional-looking projects. Overlockers are not worth using for those who finish their seams with bindings or make home decors that don’t require overlocked seams.
Do you need an industrial serger?
The answer is pretty simple; if you’re using your machine a lot, then you probably need an industrial sewing machine. Don’t let intimidation get the better of you. Many newer industrial sewing machines come with many settings that are comfortable for beginners too.
