What is back of work in knitting?
back of your work: As in “yarn to the back.” The back of your work is the side of your work that faces away from you as you hold your needles. Not to be confused with the right and wrong side of your work, which refers to how you will wear the piece.
Is cast on Considered row 1?
For example, the most popular cast on, the long tail method, creates both a cast on and a knitted row. So in this case, you would count that as the first row. If you do an easy loop cast on (recommended for beginners), it’s simply a cast on and not counted as a row.
