Why is my thread bunching underneath?
A: Looping on the underside, or back of the fabric, means the top tension is too loose compared to the bobbin tension, so the bobbin thread is pulling too much top thread underneath. By tightening the top tension, the loops will stop, but the added tension may cause breakage, especially with sensitive threads.
Why does my bottom thread keep jamming?
The tension could be too tight or too loose. Set the tension to the basic thread tension setting or adjust the tension manually. The combination of the needle size, thread size and fabric is incorrect. Be sure to use the correct size needle and thread for the type of fabric that you are sewing.
What causes puckering?
Puckering is usually caused by one or more of the following conditions: Yarn Displacement (structural jamming of fabric yarns). Tension Puckering (excessive thread tension and recovery). Machine Puckering (uneven ply feeding).
What does puckering your lips mean?
: to squeeze one’s lips together in the way people do when they are going to kiss someone.
What width should my sewing machine be on?
A straight stitch has no width so it makes sense to set the dial at “0”. However, each machine varies so you will want to set the Stitch Width dial at the position where the needle is centered over the stitch plate. This will give you the most accurate seam allowance.
Is higher number higher tension on sewing machine?
When you’re adjusting the upper thread tension on your machine, remember that higher numbers on the dial indicate higher (tighter) tension, and lower numbers indicate lower (looser) tension. Try changing the tension dial up or down one unit.
