Question: How do you quilt a different size block?

What is the most common size quilt block?

Probably the most common size of quilt block (and definitely the most preferred of the FaveQuilts audience), the 12-inch size is great because it’s so versatile, and you’ve got plenty of space to show off your clever use of HSTs or fussy cut fabrics.

What does Finished size mean in quilting?

The finished size is the size of the block once other blocks have been added on each side. This can also be sashing pieces added to a block. It can also be where you have sewn the block to other blocks and a border piece. So anytime the block is enclosed by other components on all sides, it becomes the finished block.

What size do I cut quilt squares?

The 6 x 24 ruler is the first one to start with. A staple. If you are able to buy a smaller ruler for sub cutting those strips down I recommend it. The 6 x 24 is great for cutting strips from the yardage but a little cumbersome when cutting those down into the squares.
