How do you sew stretchy fabric without puckering?
Ensure you opt for the right size of needle for your fabric. Use stitches that will hold the stretch of the fabric – the stitches need to stretch with the fabric, so they don’t pucker and break. If you must sew with a straight stitch, then hold the material taut, but don’t pull it.
Do I need a walking foot to sew knits?
Walking Foot
One way to keep your knit fabric from growing while you’re sewing is to use a Walking Foot. A while back I did a post on the Walking Foot. While not essential, it has an amazing effect on the way your knit fabrics sew. Basically, it keeps the fabric from stretching while you sew.
What tension should I use for thin fabric?
Use size 70/10 for really thin cotton like voile, size 80/12 for light to medium weight cotton, and 90/14 for thick cotton like denim.
